Universal manuscript template for OSA journals
LaTeX manuscripts submitted to OSA journals as of 30 May 2018 may use these instructions and this new single-column universal template format. Note that the final publishing format of OSA journals is not changing at this time, and authors will still need to adhere to article-length restrictions based on the final publishing format (which for some journals is two columns). Once your article is complete, you may submit it directly to Prism (the OSA's article tracking system) via the 'Submit to OSA' option in the Overleaf editor. Authors of Optics Letters articles and Optica letters and memoranda should continue using the legacy template for an accurate length check. Please note that OSA is no longer using OCIS codes.

This template can be used to prepare a research article for submission to OSA’s journals Applied Optics, Advances in Optics and Photonics, JOSA A, JOSA B and Optics Letters. Note that this template can be run from your own TeX system or within the cloud-based Overleaf system (formerly writeLaTeX). Once your article is complete, you may submit it directly to Prism (the OSA's article tracking system) via the 'Submit to OSA' option in the Overleaf editor. Version 1.4, 2015/10/20: update includes addition of Advances in Optics and Photonics style and update to Optics Letters template to include automatic generation of the two reference list styles (abbreviated and full). Version 1.5, 2016/04/19: update to OCIS code styling. Version 1.6, 2016/08/25: refactored .tex to make it more streamlined and less cluttered. Version 1.7, 2017/12/06: journal titles are automatically abbreviated when using BibTeX. aop.sty Version 1.1, 2017/03/25: AOP manuscripts have a narrower column. Version 1.8, 2018/05/20: OCIS codes are no longer compulsory. Version 1.9, 2018/07/19: The styles/ folder is now renamed legacy-styles. 2019/08/01: Added disclosure information. Version 1.10, 2019/08/05: osajnl.cls is updated to be compatible with latest TeX Live/MikTeX packages. Version 1.11, 2019/09/01: osajnl.cls is updated to be compatible with latest caption package.
